Abstract: When a non-constant envelope signal goes through a nonlinear poweramplifier, spectral regrowth (broadening) appears at the outputof the power amplifier. To satisfy regulatory requirements on outof band emissions, spectral regrowth must be contained. In thispaper, we derive a novel closed-form expression for the outputpower spectral density when the power amplifier isquasi-memoryless and cyclostationarity of the digitally modulatedinput is taken into account. We compare our results with theconventional analysis where stationary input is assumed. Weemphasize the importance of paying attention to thecyclostationary nature of the input when excess bandwidth ispresent.
